“I am confident that the education they have received will make them individuals who can and will take the time to think for themselves and inspire and lead others.”
White Mountain Waldorf School offers weekly 2 hour playgroups for parents and children before entering a nursery or kindergarten class. The children can delight in the warm and inviting space that offers special attention to support their interests, physical development, and beginning social skills. Parents come and delight in sharing songs and games with their children that support their growing speech and language development. Parents also are offered a warm and inviting space for them to socialize, exchange parenting ideas, and guidance about parenting/caregiving and the Waldorf philosophy.
The rhythm of the day includes creative play, clean up time, circle, and a nutritious snack, followed soon after with outdoor play. Parents may create snack together or a lovely craft while keeping a loving eye on the playing children. At the White Mountain Waldorf School, we believe that play is the work of the young child.

White Mountain Waldorf School provides the warm, beautiful, rich environment space where children can transition from their home environment to school with ease. Each day’s rhythm and routine helps the child to feel safe and secure as they develop at their own speed. During the mornings, children have the freedom to play with simple toys and natural materials inside and outside. In play, children develop the capacity for creative thinking, problem solving, and social skills through their imaginative interactions and in teacher-directed activities. The structured and supported use of play in the Early Childhood program lays a strong foundation for future academic success. Children may also help in making the nourishing snack of the day and all begin to learn how to care for all our things in the classroom with cleaning up the room and themselves. Many beautiful songs rhymes and finger plays are shared in circle led by the teacher. Children are entranced and excited by the traditional tales told from memory with puppets, and storytelling, with rich language which sets the groundwork for early literacy and development.
The White Mountain Waldorf School currently offers three-day and five-day nursery programs for children two to four years old.

In play, children develop the capacity for creative thinking, problem solving, and social skills through their imaginative interactions and in teacher-directed activities. The work of the young child coming to kindergarten is developing the skills to be at school and so we help to support them as the children all learn how to work together and how to play together. The structured and supported use of play in the Early Childhood program lays a strong foundation for future academic success. The day includes play, circle, snack, clean up, storytelling, artistic activities, and outdoor play. Each day has its own purposeful work, from creative and beautiful watercolor painting and beeswax crayon drawing, to more domestic tasks, practical handwork, cleaning, dishwashing and baking our snack. All of the activities are designed to allow the child to steadily strengthen their capacity academic learning in the elementary school.
